Immediate Dentures

An immediate denture is a complete denture or partial denture inserted on the same day, immediately following the removal of natural teeth.

Advantages

You will never need to appear in public without teeth.

When an immediate denture is inserted at the time of extraction, it will act as a Band-Aid to protect the tissues and reduce bleeding.

Allow you to establish your speech patterns early because you will not have to learn to speak without a denture in place and then later relearn to speak with a new denture.

Allow you to chew better than without any teeth and minimise facial distortion that may occur when teeth are removed.

Disadvantages

There is increased in cost.

You cannot see how the denture will look in your mouth before the teeth are extracted.

An immediate denture doesn’t fit the bone and gum tissue as intimately as a conventional denture, so it requires more adjustments during the healing stage.

THE IMMEDIATE DENTURE PROCESS

The immediate denture procedure differs from the conventional denture procedure because the dentures are created from a mold before teeth have been pulled. We will begin the preparation for this procedure before your teeth are extracted.

The first step is taking impressions of your existing teeth and gums to create accurate duplicates for placement after tooth removal.

At your extraction appointment, your immediate dentures are inserted creating a natural smile you can be proud of. Great care should be taken to follow all postoperative instructions. Your gums and bone will recede after extraction, and regular check-ups and maintenance will monitor healing and reduce problems.

Temporary linings or tissue conditioners will be required to create a better fit and may need to be adjusted or replaced many times during the healing period.

A permanent reline (or refitting) will be required to ensure a comfortable and a proper fit after you have completed the healing process.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture is a removable, yet natural-looking dental appliance that helps restore the form and function of your jaw by replacing one or several missing teeth. Partial dentures consist of a metal frame or plastic base where replacement teeth are mounted. They provide a good option for those who still have healthy teeth remaining. A partial denture may help limit movement of your existing natural teeth. They also allow you to better grind and chew food improving digestion.

Plastic Partial Dentures

These are made from Acrylic resin with embedded small metal clasps that engage onto existing teeth to keep the denture in place.

They offer a great balance between strength, appearance, and affordability.

It looks natural and indistinguishable from real teeth while worn.

They can be repaired and have teeth added on.

Flexible Partial Dentures

These are made from a Thermoplastic nylon resin that is ultra thin, very flexible and durable.

They are very comfortable for chewing and speaking.

Its perfect for patients who suffer from allergies to acrylic or certain metals.

It gives a high aesthetics result, superior to conventional acrylic/metal partial dentures.

They are non-repairable and cannot have teeth added on.

Metal Partial Dentures

Cast metal partial dentures involve an acrylic (plastic) base and a metal (cobalt chromium alloy) frame to add stability and increase the lifespan of the dentures.

The rigid frame covers less soft tissue on your mouth, which improves overall dental health, and increases sensation and taste while eating.

These are far more comfortable to wear than acrylic because it can be cast much thinner.

They may or may not be repairable and can only have teeth added on in certain cases.

denture repairs

We can repair your dentures; whether it’s a chipped tooth or a broken denture base.

We provide same-day repairs. It usually takes less than 4 hours, and no appointment booking is required!

Denture RElines

As time goes on, your gum tissues will change and the fit of the denture will become more loose and thus more prone to movement inside your mouth. Having the denture professionally relined will help keep the denture secure and functional.

At Caredent we offers: temporary reline and soft or hard permanent relines. Our relines can be done in the same day. Come in to see us and we will let you know if your dentures are suitable for a reline.

Denture Cleaning

Come on in and get your denture clean! We remove any calculus, stains and plaque. We will polish your denture to give it a smooth and shine surface finish.

No appointment booking required!
