IMMEDIATE DENTURES

Immediate Dentures: High-Impact Acrylic. Ready to Wear After Extractions!

What is Immediate Dentures?

An immediate denture is a complete denture or partial denture inserted on the same day, immediately following the removal of natural teeth.

Advantages

Disadvantages

Disadvantages

  • You will never need to appear in public without teeth.
  • When an immediate denture is inserted at the time of extraction, it will act as a Band-Aid to protect the tissues and reduce bleeding.
  • Allow you to establish your speech patterns early because you will not have to learn to speak without a denture in place and then later relearn to speak with a new denture.
  • Allow you to chew better than without any teeth and minimise facial distortion that may occur when teeth are removed.

Disadvantages

Disadvantages

Disadvantages

  • There is increased in cost.
  • You cannot see how the denture will look in your mouth before the teeth are extracted.
  • An immediate denture doesn’t fit the bone and gum tissue as intimately as a conventional denture, so it requires more adjustments during the healing stage.

The Immediate Denture Process

The immediate denture procedure differs from the conventional denture procedure because the dentures are created from a mold before teeth have been pulled. We will begin the preparation for this procedure before your teeth are extracted.

The first step is taking impressions of your existing teeth and gums to create accurate duplicates for placement after tooth removal.

At your extraction appointment, your immediate dentures are inserted creating a natural smile you can be proud of. Great care should be taken to follow all postoperative instructions. Your gums and bone will recede after extraction, and regular check-ups and maintenance will monitor healing and reduce problems.

Temporary linings or tissue conditioners will be required to create a better fit and may need to be adjusted or replaced many times during the healing period.

A permanent reline (or refitting) will be required to ensure a comfortable and a proper fit after you have completed the healing process.
